I’m not 100% sure, since I never compared them immediatly next to each other. I guess though that the long model is somewhat mellower and intonation is definitly much improved on the newer model. A pity that Conn stopped so early making sopranos. They were on a very good trail.

Hi I am very impressed by your playing of CONN Bb long bell soprano!

How will you define the sound difference between this long bell model and the previous CONN New Wonder soprano? :)

  3. ABrandsma says:

The curved sop I use here has as brand name Prologue. That is a cheap model, but the sound is not bad. Maybe it is not build to be very solid, but when you use it as double it could last for years I guess.

hello i have a question i play a tenor sax and i would like to buy a saprano and was wondering if you could tell me some good models tha are not toexpensive and i would want to be playing this for jazz songs

  5. ABrandsma says:

The fingering is the same, except that the sopranino & C sop. don’t have high E & F keys. These notes can be played, but you really need a good developed embouchure.

  6. SaltyTheClown says:

does it have same fingering as the tenor

I’m 15 years old, I have been playing Alto sax for almost 5 years now, I love all the saxophones, but my fav will always be alto :)

  10. ABrandsma says:

It is true that you only can use short shank mouthpieces. But if you have one, and I simply have the original belonging to the sax, then this kind of sax plays perfectly in tune. It is so remarkingly good in fact, that I haven’t found a modern soprano yet, that was better in tune.

  11. stubs13 says:

How do you tune the long model, supposedly you have to push the mouth piece as far a possible and you can only use “short” shank mouthpieces. Is this true?

im 15 i been playin for 5 years. i started on alto and now i got a soprano thinking it would take less. but i find mysel more worn out after playin g soprano. im scare of the sopranino lol

  13. spitgalore says:

If you did not explain here, I would think those were clarinets. The saxophones I’ve seen on TV have large funnels in front. And you’ve played so effortlessly. I was told one needs very large lung power to play them. Thanks for sharing.

  14. ABrandsma says:

I would say : not really expensive, but they are hard to find in good condition.

  15. olymania says:

    are sopranino saxaphones expensive???
i want to play it for band so…?

  16. jazzmanal says:

Thank you for the fine music, outstanding job….you make me want to play the SAX. I guess that would entail learning to play first. lol

  17. Gandalfe says:

Watching this video got me to pull out the Conn C sop that Sarge of Worldwide sax fixed for me. Still plays so well but I need to move up to a harder reed at the D1 and D2 take a lot of effort to not have them pop an overtone.

  18. FairyHarper says:

  19. lietz13 says:

That curved soprano looks just like mine, except mine is from L.A. Sax. Weird, the bottom end pads are on the same side too haha.

  20. ABrandsma says:

No, I’m sorry. Just picked them from the recording. Duke Ellington and his Orchestra, recorded I guess around 1938.

  21. cjp31294 says:

hey could u give me the music jeep’s blues for soprano sax

  22. deedundone says:

    lol

  23. ABrandsma says:

On the Conn Bb and C soprano : original mouthpiece from Conn belonging to the horn. (There is no alternative, since modern piece don’t fit, they are too long)
On the Nino and the Curved : Selmer C*.
    Reeds Vandoren #3.

  24. jimmiemel says:

Beautiful sound on all those instruments! What kind of mouthpieces and reeds are you using?
    Jim

  25. ABrandsma says:

    Hello Harry,

It is not so difficult to switch from clarinet to soprano. I started on clarinet myself.

    Kind regards,

    Bert
