De Hermitage Amsterdam wijdt haar achtste tentoonstelling aan prachtige art nouveau. De objecten van die kunststroming zijn hoogtepunten binnen de collectie West-Europese toegepaste kunst van de Hermitage in St.-Petersburg. Deze art nouveau-collectie is in Nederland nog niet eerder getoond. Topstukken zijn de geschenken aan de laatste tsaren van de beroemde glaskunstenaars Émile Gallé en de gebroeders Daum; daarnaast zijn ook René Lalique en Carl Fabergé vertegenwoordigd. The Hermitage Amsterdam will be dedicating its eighth exhibition to the beauties of Art Nouveau. The objects produced within this movement are the highlights of the Western decorative arts collection in the Hermitage in St Petersburg. This collection of Art Nouveau has not previously been on show in the Netherlands. Amongst the major works are the gifts to the last tsars made by the glassmakers Émile Gallé and the Daum brothers; works by René Lalique and Carl Fabergé will also be included.
Art Deco a time when the US and world had class and everything was elegant, glamorous, functional and modern. Now we have lost class and sense. Art Deco will come back.
I think I’m way too in love with annotations. In my defense, I’m too sick to sit in front of a camera and my voice isn’t much better. This also kind of harks back to the “video painting” buzz I was on a while back (with most of my results visible on deviantart), where I try to make a largely static image as visually interesting as possible by way of an unsteady camera and a low resolution that constantly shifts and re-assesses itself as it tries to reconcile its limited color palette with what it’s seeing. Anyway, I’ll let the vase do the talking.
